After Catalunya, Cresson is looking forward to Jerez and Portimao
Loris Cresson heads to Jerez after the first of three consecutive WorldSBK weekends confident of a strong Spanish showing after a step forward at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Despite failing to finish Race 2 on Sunday, the Belgian rider was able to show pace in Saturday’s opening encounter, held in wet conditions and in Sunday morning’s Superpole race, where he ran P10 in the early stages.
Having found something that made him feel more comfortable earlier in the weekend, the focus for the next round at Jerez this coming weekend is to settle into his rhythm from the opening on track session, with the hope of adding to his championship points tally in the penultimate European race of the season.
“I made some mistakes win qualifying but was optimistic for the race but then the rain came. We couldn’t make the changes we wanted for the race because of the weather. I was able to fight a lot, not too far from the points but I started to slide a lot as the tyre destroyed itself as the track dried out. Nevertheless, it was a good race and a lot of experience in these conditions for me. The Superpole race went well, and I made a lot of progress. I missed a bit of grip in Race 2 and was running quite well but then we had a problem with the traction control, and I had to stop. The next race is in Jerez, so let’s keep going and try again there.”
