Portuguese race pace pleases Loris Cresson
Loris Cresson powered his Kawasaki ZX10R-R to another triple top twenty finish in the latest round of the FIM Superbike World Championship, making a significant step forward in terms of both personal lap time and gap to the front.
A few small issues at the start of the weekend were soon worked through, Loris going on to improve with every session, ultimately taking a well earned eighteenth at the flag in Sunday’s Race 2 at the Estoril Circuit in Portugal, the scene of his WorldSBK debut last year.
The rate of progression by both Loris and Team Pedercini Racing is impressive, with the whole squad buoyed by the big jump forward in only their second full-time race together.
“I knew that the weekend would be like Aragon in that with limited testing we would have to continue to work through many things, so overall I have to be happy, especially with my performance in Race 2 in which I was over twenty seconds faster than in Race 1. We have now found a direction that seems to suit me, and we will continue to work in this way. Honestly, for only the second time on the bike we have to be happy. I was a bit alone in the Superpole race, but my lap times were better and for Race 2 we made another small change, and I was able to go faster again, and my race pace was not so far from the points scoring positions. I have a good feeling with the bike now and I want to thank the team, especially Max, who has done a great job. I will continue to work away from the track, and I can go home happy. I am looking forward to Misano and riding there for the first time on a Superbike, hopefully with fans allowed in the grandstands which will be something nice for me to experience as a Superbike rider.”
